A Sunday Compilation

Betsy has a brief but spot on look at Rudy Giuliani and his political future. (I may consider supporting Rudy, depending on which office he is seeking and who is competition is. He's one of the more moderate lights in the party, regardless of his odious support of Bush.)
Joe Territo comments on and points us to the blog of NY Times writer Jonathan Miller. That man has pretty good blog himself with a powerful writing style and perspective on the New York, New Jersey scene. I'll be exploring it some more and I suspect he will find his way onto my blogroll, once I stop putting off finding a cure for procrastination.
At one of our partner sites, Middle Earth Journal, Ron poses an interesting question. Are polling places obsolete? I was vaguely aware that you can vote by mail in Oregon, but I didn't know it was the only option. Perhaps the whole country could do this. I know that the law requires all polling places to be fully handicap accessible, but how many more people would vote from home if it was always an option?
Today is the LAST day of voting for the 2004 Weblog Awards. (Aren't you glad that you'll stop hearing about it?) Sadly, it appears that only one of my picks is going to win. Betsy Newmark looks to be in a solid first place in her competition. But the Moderate Voice has fallen into second place by one stinking percent. Harrumph. Of course, most of the other centrist or left leaning blogs were wiped out, since it's run on a conservative site.
This weekend, Doug Giles from TownHall wrote one of the most shockingly misogynistic columns I've seen in ages. For a dose of reality, Tbogg tears him to small pieces, sets the pieces on fire, jumps up and down on them, and then douses the flames by urinating on them.
According to Dennis, the Moderate Republican, you should just be the bear.
I used to think that wrestling with religious questions would be so much easier if God would just speak to me directly in an audible voice. However, after reading Brilliant at Breakfast today, I'm not positive that I want God talking to anybody.
And of course, later this evening be sure to stop by CathColl.net for the Carnival of Cats.
