Adding on to Ron's excellent post below about the new Bush plan to make Social Security employees shill for his scam, there are a number of other bloggers who are up in arms about this outrage.

Over at Obsidian Wings, hilzoy provides an important reminder. "Let me say that again, just so it's clear: it is against the law to use taxpayer money for propaganda."

Steve Soto summarizes the Bush philosophy nicely. "Spread disinformation and scare people."

Dave Johnson is, to put it mildly, a bit upset, comparing this to the Armstrong Williams scandal. "That was the government using tax dollars to pay journalists to propagandize the public. This is using the government itself to propagandize the public to support the policies of one political party."

Logging in from the "Bush can do no wrong and we just don't get it" camp, we have Orrin Judd. Short, but pointless as usual. "Is it their position that the agency has no interest in the future of the program?"

No, Orrin. Instead of living in a cocoon all your life, read a few of the posts linked above and you may find a valuable clue.

EDIT: Joe Gandelman has a very extensive post on this today, guest blogging at Dean's World.
